Biography

SVP, Technology, leads the AI Foundations team within the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences organization at Capital One. In this capacity, Milind partners with product, tech, and business leaders to advance and deliver on our strategic vision to harness emerging AI advances, such as generative AI and continuous self-learning, while addressing fundamental invention challenges in AI for data (discovery, redaction, cleansing) and data for AI (fusing across sources, types, quality). Milind joined Capital One in May 2023, bringing with him over 25 years of deep expertise in applying AI to solve various business and scientific challenges, and launch products and platforms with significant business impact. Milind joins us most recently from NVIDIA where, as Chief Technology Officer of Metropolis, he led the technology and innovation strategy and execution for NVIDIA’s Metropolis platform and product offerings. Prior to joining NVIDIA, Milind held executive and leadership roles at Cisco and IBM Research. At Cisco, Milind led the development of AI-based technical support systems, network early warning systems and semi-automated knowledge extraction systems that impact Cisco's profitability, and customer experience. While at IBM Research, Milind led several company-wide strategic AI initiatives in multimedia analytics and smarter planet solutions. Milind also led the creation of IBM Research THINK Labs, which are a mechanism for IBM to engage with its Fortune 500 customers to apply machine learning, cloud and AI to unlock the value of their data. Milind holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation and Control from the College of Engineering Pune, and M.S and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Milind, his wife Deepti and their twin sons, Atharv and Rohan, make their home in Cupertino, California. Deepti works in the Systems division at IBM, and Atharv and Rohan are sophomores at Cupertino High. Milind spends his free time rooting for his favorite Cricket team or nurturing his backyard fruit trees, including a particularly high-maintenance avocado tree.
